Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for classes at Hello Sunshine Studio?

You’ll find a button at the top of the page that says ‘Register at Hello Sunshine Studio’. Clicking this will take you to a page to sign up for a Mindbody account – the app that we use for all our class bookings at the studio. If you already have a MindBody account you can log in with this.

What does your studio look like?

Where can I find a timetable that I can easily print out and share with others?
Right here – Studio Timetable. We have more than 80 classes a week on offer!

What should I wear and what should I bring to class?
Bring a drink bottle and wear comfortable clothing. Layers are good to put on during warm up and cool down. Something you can move comfortably in and doesn’t ride up during class. Make sure to bring your grip socks for reformer classes – we sell these in the studio if you need them.

What to do when I arrive for class?
The studio doors will open at the end of each class and close when class starts so please don’t be late. If you do arrive a little bit late, come in quietly + find your space. The doors to the studio will open 10 minutes before class starts, so there is no need to arrive super early! When you arrive please make sure your phone is switched to silent. Please leave your shoes at the room entrance and then find your space on the mat or reformer machine. Your instructor will let you know if you need to gather any other equipment for the class.

Please remember to wipe down your machine/mat/equipment after class and leave the area tidy for the next person.

How do I book a class?
We highly recommend downloading the MindBody App and booking and managing your classes from there. You can also book directly on our website. You will only be able to book a class if your membership is up to date. If your weekly payment has come out you will be able to book the week ahead until your next payment comes out. Your monthly membership will give you the ability to book classes up until your next monthly payment comes out. For 10 trip and casual classes you can book as long as you have classes remaining on your pass/pay at the time of booking.

What if I can’t make it to a class I’ve booked ?
We all know that life can get in the way of plans so if you find you aren’t able to make a class you’ve booked you can cancel via the app or website. This frees up a space for someone else to attend the class.

If the cancellation is more than four hours before class starts you won’t be charged for the class. If the cancellation is within four hours of class, the class will be charged to your membership. If you’ve got a good reason for cancelling please email the studio + we’ll look at crediting the class back to you.

What classes are available and how often does the timetable change?
All the classes that are available at Hello Sunshine Studio can be found on our website and the MindBody App. If you or someone you know are keen to instruct a class(es) please book in to try some classes at the studio first to see if you like our style of teaching + vibe!

The timetable is updated to take into account feedback from clients, special seasonal classes, popularity of class types and times and instructor availability. Generally we have a Summer Timetable (October -March) and a Winter Timetable (April – September).

What does it mean when a class says “Waitlist“?
If a class shows as waitlist it means the class is fully booked but you can go on the waitlist. It is always worth waitlisting as more often than not you will get a spot in the class.

If a spot becomes available you will automatically be added to the class, so please check your emails + MindBody App for confirmation! If you are no longer able to make the class please remove yourself from the waitlist.

Do you cater for beginners?
The short answer is yes! Beginners are welcome in all our classes, but for a reformer class you will need to do an introductory session first or have prior reformer experience. Our instructors offer modifications for exercises and we always encourage you to move to where you can on the day.

You can jump straight into a floor class but we recommend coming a little early to chat with the instructor beforehand. Our friendly instructors are here to support you and guide you through class. And please don’t be shy to ask for help!

Why do I need to do an introductory session for a reformer class but not for a floor class?
The reformer is a large piece of equipment and it takes time for an instructor to walk through it with you and to explain how it all works and how to use the springs, the footbar and the straps during exercises in class. There are also a variety of positions that we teach on the reformer including lying on our backs, side, four point kneeling, standing, and lying on a box. We need time to take you through these positions and the movements we do in each one and to see if a variation needs to be provided (if you can’t kneel on one knee for example). We want to ensure that at your first reformer class you feel comfortable and safe on the machine.

For floor classes you are welcome to book in an introductory session if you would prefer, however you are able to come along to a class straight away and follow along with the instructor.

Do you offer one off classes for workplaces or events (ie Bridal Parties or Birthdays?)
Yes we do but only at times when classes are not on. We can work with what you’d like for your group – an introductory/beginner reformer class, a yoga class or a mat pilates class. You can choose! Please email us for details at info@hellosunshinestudio.nz

Do you offer 1 on 1 or private sessions?
Yes, we do but only at times when classes are not on. Please ask the instructor that you’d like to have your session with and they will let you know their rates and availability. Private sessions are available for a maximum of 2 clients at a time. If you’re unsure which instructor you’d like, you can email us with what you’re after and we will match you with a suitable instructor. Please note we are not a rehab facility.

Can I bring my child(ren) with me to class?
Your child is welcome to quietly sit at the side of the room or in the kitchen area while you do your class – but please note the instructor or other staff on site are not babysitters! We recommend bringing a book or a quiet activity for them to do for the 50 minutes. Not suitable for toddlers.

How old do you have to be to participate in classes at Hello Sunshine Studio?
You must be at least 16 years old to participate in classes at Hello Sunshine Studio. If you are under the age of 18 years old, a parent or guardian must agree to the terms of membership and complete a Waiver and Release of Liability on your behalf.

Are there changing room facilities and a bathroom at the studio?
Yes, there are changing rooms and a separate bathroom at the studio. We do not have shower facilities.

Is there parking?
There is lots of free parking outside and around the studio, and it’s fairly easy to find a spot! You can also easily walk or bike to the studio.

Do you have gift vouchers?
Yes – pop into the studio and pick one up, or if you’d prefer an e-voucher email info@hellosunshinestudio.nz and we can email the voucher to you or the giftee.
